Editor, Venture Capital Interview Prep
Nadia Brandt writes about how people get hired into venture and what the interview actually involves — European and US funds, from pre-seed specialists through multi-stage platforms. A seed fund and a growth fund hire for almost nothing in common, so a guide written for “venture” in general is usually wrong about half of it, and each guide here is built firm by firm rather than assumed.
Two things make this beat harder to get right than it looks. A fund's own site will sometimes carry two different totals for how much it has raised, both live at once, because a press release gets written and the About page never catches up — when that happens, the guides say so instead of picking whichever number sounds better. And most funds have no on-cycle calendar and no published process at all, so a careers page that stops at “apply below” is often the entire record — where a fund has never said what its interview actually involves, the guide says exactly that instead of filling the gap with secondhand chatter. A valuation quoted on a fund's site is a mark, not a price anyone paid this week, and the guides treat it that way rather than reporting the latest number as news.
